Welcome to a performance experience like no other. Shining Stars is MCDC’s premier non-competitive, recreational-based performance group designed for dancers who are ready to take their passion beyond the classroom and into the spotlight.

Who We Are

Shining Stars is an inclusive performance group open to all current MCDC students with no auditions required. Designed for dancers ages 8 and up, this ensemble celebrates individuality while creating a unified, powerful presence on stage.

What to Expect

As a Shining Stars member, dancers participate in 6–9 performances throughout the season, including in-studio showcases, local community events, and special appearances at high profile venues such as Disneyland and Ontario Reign Hockey Games. Dancers learn multiple routines throughout the year and develop their performance skills through engaging choreography and purposeful rehearsal. Each performance opportunity is designed to build confidence, stage presence, and artistic expression.

Commitment and Requirements

The Shining Stars season runs from July 1 to June 30. Dancers must be enrolled in both a Jazz class and a Jazz Technique class throughout the season. Rehearsals take place every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and are mandatory to ensure growth, consistency, and ensemble unity.

About Nova Ballet of MCDC

Elevate Your Ballet Training with the Nova Ballet of MCDC Where dedication, artistry, and performance unite.

Nova Ballet is a specialized performance group for dedicated dancers ages 12 and up who are ready to refine their technique, grow as performers, and take on featured roles in our full-length ballet productions. As a member of Nova, dancers will benefit from:

Choreography and Performance Training
Learn and rehearse beautifully crafted ballet routines designed to enhance artistry and stage presence.

Dedication and Growth
Strengthen technical ability, discipline, and musicality through focused, consistent training.

Featured Roles
Perform as a main character or featured dancer in our productions, often opening the show and appearing in multiple group and small ensemble pieces.

Solo and Duet Opportunities
With time and commitment, dancers may be selected for solos, duets, or other special roles. There are no auditions, Nova Ballet is open to all MCDC students of required age, who are ready to commit to this next level of training and performance.

Participation Requirements:

• Enrollment in one Ballet class (or a Ballet/Pointe combo class)

• Enrollment in one Ballet Technique class

• Enrollment in Pre-Pointe or Beginning Pointe, if applicable

• Weekly rehearsals on Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 PM
